What to Expect

Initial Consultation:

By the time your horse has his/her Initial Consultation you will have already spoken with Claire via telephone or email.  She will have advised you to thoroughly read the Client Advice letter. Then you will be required to download vet letter and vet form which must be completed, signed and returned to Claire. All can be downloaded Here

On arrival Claire will assess your horse for any heat, swelling, ossifications etc, and discuss his/her history and any presenting problems.  She will then assess his/her conformation and analyse his/her gait to see if anything is highlighted here that could potentially cause any discomfort either now or in the future.  She may also ask to see the horses saddle and there may be a need to assess the horse ridden or on the lunge.  Photos will be taken throughout this assessment period in order for the findings to be analysed in greater detail on the larger screen of a computer if necessary.  All findings will be discussed with the owner/handler at the time.

A full body massage then takes place, provided no contraindications have been discovered during the initial stages.  Claire will highlight any areas of tension or muscular spasm with the owner/handler as they arise and explain the techniques used and how they can help.

Once the full body massage is complete passive stretches will be performed and scored in accordance with the range of movement offered.

Finally Claire will summarise her findings and discuss aftercare advice.  Her work will be recorded and retained in a secure environment under the Data Protection Act 1998.  A follow Up appointment will then be made.

The Initial Consultation takes about 1½-2hrs and costs £40. Additional fuel charges may apply.

Follow Up Treatments:

Unless any new presenting problems have arisen between visit’s the Follow Up Treatments will only include a full body massage treatment and stretches as the assessment has already been completed.  The findings will again be recorded and retained in a secure environment under the Data Protection Act 1998.  These sessions are therefore shorter lasting about 1-1½hrs and cost £30. Additional fuel charges may apply.

Please remember the horse must be stabled for 1hr after treatment before allowing access to turn out or hard feed.
